About Lee Provident Sterile Processing
Bernard Lee Boyd Jr.
Bernard has been working in the fields of Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing Technology since 1990. He graduated from the Naval School of Health Sciences, Portsmouth, VA as an Operating Room Technician. Bernard served on active duty as an Operating Room Technician at the prestigious National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD (now called the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center).
In 1992, Bernard was honorably discharged from the United States Navy and worked as a Surgical Technologist at Howard University Hospital (the nation's only teaching hospital on the campus of a historically black university) until 1998 but kept pushing forward by relocating back home to Philadelphia, PA to continue his career as a Surgical Technologist.
Bernard received additional training, scrubbing general surgery, trauma surgery, plastic surgery, cataract surgery, total joint surgery, neurosurgery, spine surgery and transplant surgical procedures, while gathering more exposure to sterile processing technology at some of the top hospitals in the Philadelphia area.
In 2000, Bernard transitioned to sterile processing leadership.
Bernard was formally trained by one of the more leading figures in the field of Sterile Processing Technology and earned his certification as a CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) then later as a CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician).
Very passionate about the work and the idea of helping others to pursue the sterile processing profession, Bernard formed his own organization, Lee Provident Limited, LLC.
Since 2013, Lee Provident has educated and trained dozens of sterile processing professionals in southeastern Pennsylvania.
